There are a lot of people getting the 4883C “Identity Verification” letter from the IRS like I did this year, and a lot of people are complaining it is delaying their refund. The delay is to be expected since it does require a bit of manual checking, but I did my verification on March 12th and today on the Where’s My Refund site I can see my refund has been approved and will be direct deposited on March 20th!

So after my 4883C identity verification call I received my direct deposit date in less than a week, and that date is a whole 8 days. To be fair I did my verification at around 6PM in the evening so we could really call it an even week
